Sight Words for Grade 1

There will be three pages of sight words sent home throughout the year. The first set will go out in September, the second set in November and the final set will go home in March.

The grade one and two students will all be bringing home Word Wall and sight words (spelling words) on a weekly basis in their agendas.  The children are expected to read and spell these words. I will be sending these words home on Fridays. Please study them over the weekend because we will be working with them the following week.

Students are asked to read for 15 minutes each night. You can record this reading in their Home Reading Log Book. Please send it back to school when one page is complete so I can monitor your child's progress. Also, at this time, the grade one students are learning how to independently write the upper and lower case letters and identify the letter sounds. Please have your child practice printing their name using one uppercase letter and the rest in lower case letters. Please work on this with your child especially during the months of September, October and November.

The grade two students wil be working on writing a complete sentence.
